The dogs below have found their wonderful families to
give them a forever home. Free of their former lives, they are enjoying comfy beds, runs on the beach and learning to
just be a beloved member of their families.
We couldn't be happier for them.

Elliot
Elliot has kept his name and moved in to a wonderful new home with Kelly and her family where he has more
toys than he could have ever dreamed of. He is learning to become a much-loved member of the household. We couldn't
be happier for you, Elliot!
October Update
Elliot LOVES toys... although not all toys. He picks his favorites and then
makes sure to keep track of where they are. His current favorite is a stuffed skunk. He hangs back when new
people are in the kennel, but will come up if that new person is holding a fun toy and if you are on the other side of the
fence will come right up for attention wiggling his little rear. As much as Elliot likes his food, toys hold a
higher value to him and he just adores them. With that said, even with Mac and Zoey visiting the run, Elliot was not
resource guarding with food or with toys. Elliot is also a little more sparsely coated than usual right now as he had
to be shaved to remove the matts. Joe has found his forever home... now it's Elliot's turn!
Past Updates
(Notes from Julia) This is our sweet, sweet Elliott. He is the most handsome little guy ... pardon
his hairlessness; he has very long fur & his undercoat was matted down to his skin. We had him groomed
and he ended up having to be shaved. He clearly loves food, and his body condition is fabulous, considering. Elliott
is the most playful of the Lind dogs, and he has a stuffed skunk toy that he carries with him every where. He has one
of the biggest wiggles I've ever seen, and he's just an all-around sweetheart. He doesn't like to be caught (scared),
but he loves being petted. He takes treats from my hands with no worries. Elliott is in run #1 with Smokin' Joe,
and those two boys are the best of friends. They actually PLAY together, unlike most of the Provost dogs ... these boys
love toys & each other. :)

Peaches
Peaches is a beloved boy in his forever home with Heather and couldn't be happier!

October Update
Peaches is slightly more reserved than Harley. -- but both boys have made huge improvements.
PJ was approachable and accepted strangers petting him and is just a handsome boy.
Past Updates
(Note from Heather) Peaches is about 2 years old I think. He is a sweetheart. He trusts my husband
and myself to a point. He likes to be in the same room as us, but when we move in his direction he moves so we can't
touch him. When I do corner him, gently of course, he lays still and lets me pet him and groom him and he does relax
and snooze. He doesn't fight when I pick him up. Peaches spends most of his time in the house. He loves
the doggie door, he's popping in and out of that thing all the time, it's pretty cute actually. He is house broken.
He does walk on the leash, but is skilled at losing his collar so I strongly recommend a harness for him. He is also
a bit of a bully so would do better with more dominant dogs that he won't push around.
**Update on Peaches**
Peaches just after a bath. He is so sweet and affectionate. Finally after 2 months he has
making huge progress in trusting people. Peaches is a good little watch dog too. He makes a point to let me know
when somebody is in his territory.

Kate
Sweet Kate has a home!
Kate goes to the Groomer!
Donna's Comment -- "Katie naturally was the "star"!!!! They loved her!!!!"
Julia's Comment -- "She is sooooooooo amazingly cute with her ears trimmed down & those sweet little
green ear bows. ... I want to marry her! :)"

Kate goes to her first party!
Kate is doing awesome!!! Heather, Julia and I took her, Harley, PJ, and #8 (Zoey) to the tri
cities on Sat. for a Halloween party that Sheryl VanTines friend,Tyny, had organized. We were there for about 4 hrs. and all
the dogs did great!!! They seemed to really enjoy the outing, meeting new people and dogs!!! No problems at all!!!!
Donna
October Update
We first met Kate when we went to Othello in July although we didn't put together who she was until
we went back. She was one that would approach and readily take treats, though wouldn't quite let you touch her.
Three months later, I think she is ready to go home and enjoy the pampered life. There are pictures of Kate with her
eyes half closed as Kris is rubbing her chest and stomach. She is longing for the good life with her own people,
own toys, a pink collar with a little bling and maybe even an ear trim. =) Katie was wonderful when Kris'
dog Mac and Julia's rescue, Zoey came into her run and again when she was moved in with Denver to build up his confidence
with people. Just a sweet girl who will still need an adjustment period, but is probably one of the most ready to
move into an experienced dog home with or without another doggie friend.

The other one, Trixie, is the one I wanted to contact you about. Trixie is a tricolor, medium sized Miniature
Aussie. She is very good looking, probably about a year old. She will be a great dog for the right person. She is very
smart, always thinking about things, really wants to be with someone, but still a bit too fearful to come into catching
reach on her own. She is a very joyful happy dog with great enthusiasm and would do very well in a home where she would
have a job to do. She is good on a leash and in a crate and stays in a kennel or yard well too. If she is trailing a
lead, she is easy to catch, she will come to eat from your hand (she loves cheese!) and she will run into the house
on her own and into her crate too for a bit of food.
Trixie is a little nervous yet and cautious, but not extremely fearful.
She overcomes her fears pretty well with a bit of work and is willing to try really hard. She is good with cats (mostly
ignores them), other friendly dogs (she runs in the yard with my Silkys and tolerated my daughter's smooth collie fine,
though she established limits, she was not aggressive). Trixie behaves the same around my husband as myself, so she
is not afraid of men particularly. We haven't had small children around, so she might be fearful of the activity. So
far she has never offered any aggression towards a person at all, even when she was quite afraid and felt cornered. She
will need some work, but would be well worth the effort and ought to make a wonderful pet.
I think Trixie would
love something confidence building like Agility, Obedience, perhaps to learn how to retrieve and jump for Frisbees (though
so far she doesn't show any understanding of chasing a ball or a toy). She is very athletic and trainable.

Jasper
(aka Smokin' Joe Frasier)
Congrats on your new home Jasper!!
October Update
Joe has come so far and is now a healthy young dog who loves to try to get whatever toy his best buddy,
Elliot, has.(check out the face markings and the unique way the copper crosses in front of the nose on both boys --
could this be his littermate?) Joe comes up readily for treats and is getting braver by the day. He blew
his coat late so isn't sporting his gorgeous lush coat, but it'll come back -- especially with the Eastern Washington winter
coming soon. Once the sniffing duties were over, Joe was play bowing to Mac and does well when introduced
to new dogs. He is going to be someone's amazing friend some day and I can even see that Aussie sense of
humor in his eyes. When their fencing was up, Donna would let Joe, Elliot and Katie run for a few hours on the acreage
at Pet Rescue -- more freedom than these young dogs have ever known.
ACPR would prefer Elliot and Joe go together.
Past Updates
(Notes from Julia) Smokin' Joe--do we love this boy, or what?!?? He is very playful and seems
to be such a happy-go-lucky guy. Joe takes treats and will let me touch him out in the pen, but since he got neutered
(couple days ago), he seems to be mad at me. I'm not sure why--it was Donna who took him to the vet. ;) He actually
does seem to like being brushed and petted, but he gets tired of it after about 5 minutes. I know he looks like
a starving dog, but you know how far he's came. He really is doing well--eats fine, great temperament, getting healthier
every day.
Best buds with Elliot on this page.

|

|
(Notes from Julia) He's fairly small, blue merle, gorgeous & timid. Not the least bit aggressive.
He just hunkers down low when we were petting him.

Harley Has a Home!
(Notes from Heather) Also, some more good news....Harley
was adopted today by a wonderful couple in Moses Lake. I only went to do a home check, took Harley and Peaches for a
ride and introduction. Harley just fit right in and warmed up to both the wife and husband right away. It was
perfect....so Harley stayed. You can add him to your happy endings page.
October Update
Harley is probably 16.5 to 17" and just a gorgeous boy. After an initial sniff, Harley was just a love.
Wiggling butt and a happy smile -- For the life of me, I don't know why he hasn't been adopted. Cindy was walking up
to him from a distance and he was excited and wiggling his bum anticipating that she was coming to see him. Heather
said it's just been in the last couple of days that he's really bloomed. Of course, his past would always have to be
kept in mind, but he truly doesn't seem to show anything outside of normal Aussie reserve. Kris said it
best with both Harley and PJ -- I just walked up to pet them -- they didn't act like they'd come from the
puppy mill, so I assumed they were just her dogs.
(Note from Heather) Harley is the oldest and largest, a big mini aussie. I think he is about
3 years old. He is full of love and good humor. Harley loves attention from me, he is very attached to me.
He is learning to trust others, does not bite at all. Because of his vision issue he is timid with other people,
but does not hesitate to explore new places. I have the privilege of taking him to work with me where he meets new people
on a daily basis, and some of the same people every day, and he does great. He is house broken and walks on the leash
wonderfully.

**Harley Update**
Harley is blind in his right eye and mostly blind in his left. He was born with Collie Eye
but it doesn't slow him down at all. Harley is more cautious when meeting people but doesn't nip or growl at all.
He is a very loyal friend and loves to play

(Notes from Julia)
Today "Boots" moved from the shelter to his new home. Boots is a little black
tri male pup from Ladybug (mom has been adopted). Boots--born free & now loved in his forever home. He has
his own little redhead "mama" now (15 year old girl, over the moon about him!).
YAY for Boots--renamed "Rio"!!!

HI! I am “”Pip”
I came to my forever home via a rescue. I am now about 4 months old and love my new home. I try to sneak inside
to see what my family is up to as much as possible and while in there I love to wait beside the refrigerator door, because
I know those goodies come from there. I am very smart, my family taught me to sit, stay and shake all by the time
I was 10 weeks old. I like to bother the two border collies I live with, it is so fun here, each day I get to go out
and find as much cow and horse dodo to roll in as I want, I keep hearing my foster family say I stink and then they give me
a bath, just when I thought I had a good smell going!!! I have 3 kids here that play with me all the time and I am a
very happy puppy, I just can’t wait to see what each day is going to bring.

|

|
(Note from Janet) WAHOO!!! Buddy went to his new home last Friday afternoon. Single woman with
1/2 acre fenced yard and a Miniature Pinscher to keep Buddy company! All was going well (after the 3rd report
on Friday). Buddy had already figured out the doggy door and he and the min pin were having a great time running
and playing in the yard!

"She's given way more to us than we've given to her"
Jeannie, Tilly's new mom
Pictures of Tilly bring me to tears. She was one of the most fearful dogs that we saw out there.
Please see below for more pictures of Tilly in her new life and a note from her doting new home.
Little Miss Half & Half a sleep in the kitchen.......it doesn't get any better than this.....She's
so relaxed these days....OH MY GOSH...I'm still crazy about her.
She is a truly loved little dog.....

(Notes from Julia) My Lind foster, Number 8 ... I'm going to go ahead & adopt her. She
absolutely adores me & loves my dogs, which is great ... but the real reason I decided to go ahead w/ the adoption is
that she's so unbelievably horrified of other people, it seems like it would be cruel to make her go elsewhere, knowing that
she would have a nightmare of a time getting acclimated to a new situation/people. She does well here at my house &
is loved, so she can just stay here forever. :) I had hoped for her sake that she would learn to relax a little bit
around other people, but it has been 2 1/2 months, and she's just not comfortable with other people. She doesn't like
men, or women either, actually ... however, she *does* seem to like Donna (shelter Donna). Donna isn't in the market
for a new dog, though. lol! So she's mine & either she'll learn to be more comfortable with new people or she won't--either
way, she is truly loved and valued.
I think I already shared this photo with you ... it's Number 8 (aka Zoey) a couple weeks
after I brought her home. She was extremely thin, gross skin, very thin fur, wouldn't make eye contact, etc. She's
around 6-7 years old & had to have a few extractions due to malnutrition

This is Izzy, you guys new her as 107 or Grandma. One pic is her first day at her house and one is after
brushing, bath and hair cut. She is very attached to me, but is getting along so much better with other people. She only had
2 accidents in the house before she learned to go out side, we have a doggy door. Sleeps with me and my Husband at night.
Loves to go for rides and walks, she is good on a leash. She has already became a part of this family and we can't wait to
keep her. Nancy
|

|
(Note from Janet) I'm keeping Squeak aka PeeWee (he answers to both)! :) He's quit barking at
my husband and will even run up to him in the house to be petted now! He's only had one accident in the house amazingly
enough. He spends most all night in every night now (except when he wants to go outside with my other 2 and bark/howl
at the coyotes)! It's hilarious listening to them! :)
Oh, I don't think I told you but Squeak went riding
with me last Sunday. I tried to leave him at home (as I didn't know how he would be around my horse) but he was having
NOTHING to do with that. He waited to see if my p/u left town and when he saw that I stopped down at my horse pasture
(about 3 blocks from my house) he came on down. I thought, "okay, we'll see how you do but you'd ought not mess with
my horses feet or tail". He did GREAT. He either cruised along right behind or beside me OR was off chasing deer
with my other Aussie, Lacey! He's really starting to listen to me. Comes to me every time he's called now AND
I can call him off when he thinks he needs to chase one of my cats (if she would just quit running from him) - I have other
cats that rub on him, etc. but this darn little cat takes off and the chase is on (I really can't say that I blame him it's
SO much fun)! :) He'll go up to my husband in the house now with no problem, still won't go to him outside but
baby steps is what it takes with these guys! :)
Janet
|

|
(Note from Janet) Squirt has been adopted also.
He's now living/loving life as a house dog. Has another aussie to play with as well as a corgi and a yorkie (not that
the yorkie wants anything to do with him)! :)

UPDATE
Tipsy--adopted! A man came from Idaho to meet the dogs & he fell in love with him. Yay for
Tipsy! :)

Callie has been adopted!

October Update
Snickers is doing beautifully. He is very comfortable with Mike and I. He will jump up
on the couch and sit down next to us. He still cowers when we try and walk up to him but if we let him come to us
he is fine. I am trying to get up the nerve to give him a bath. I would hate to destroy the trust we have built.
Past Update
Snickers is the most adorable little boy. Very timid and slow in learning to allow contact with people,
but we are making progress. He is probably going to his forever home on Sunday (10/5) which is going to be a great place
for him to learn to accept love and friendship.
Snickers has found his forever home!

Hi everyone,
Here is a couple of pictures of Snickers' new "big brother". My littlest foster found a wonderful home and I know
he will be happy and loved by his new family.

(Email from Janet) Lola has been adopted. She'll be
going to her new home next w/e. From what I understand from Marci, Lola is going to have another Aussie to play with,
several cats and someone at home with them most all the time! :)

Abby & Katy
October 17th Update
I finally made it home to Maryland
from Spokane WA with our two new girls. They have fit into the family perfectly.
We are all in love with them, especially my daughter Julie. They are the kindest little souls. As some of you
know these puppies came from a puppy mill raid in Washington State. I had some wonderful
people helping me with thoughts and hints from this forum. You have all been wonderful. My sincere heartfelt thanks
to everyone involved. These two girls, Abby and Katie have found their forever homes with us.
October 22nd Update
Katie and Abby are doing absolutely perfect. They had their 1st rabies shots and bordetella
this morning. My Vet is really impressed with how healthy and adjusted they are. My other 2 dogs are used
to them and could really care less, except during playtime. My other mini tries to herd them and as you can see my mutt
Wrecks is in love with both of them. I’m so blessed to have them. Thanks again to everyone who helped, Donna,
Jamie and of course their other mommy Heather. It was a pleasure meeting and spending time with you. I sure wish
I didn’t live clear across the country from you. Here are some latest pictures of the pampered pups.
Suzanne and her family are adopting Miss Piggy (now Abby!) and Katy on Monday, October 13th.
The girls will be flying to Maryland to join their new big sister, a two-year-old red tri mini girl in being spoiled
members of the family!

We (Kris, Cindy and I) were luck enough to have gone toghether to pick up Kris' foster, Brady, and Dana's
new girl, Allie. Of course, we were also lucky enough to be present when Allie earned her nickname, "Chunkahontas" while
traveling the five hours back to the Portland area. =)

Email is from Bernice, (sarah’s new mom)
She has picked a spot in our kitchen,
a corner, that is hers. She stays in the kitchen by her own choice, not running from us when we leash her up to take her outside.
When Sarah goes outside, we go with her, and leave the leash so she can just pull it around. She thinks she is being walked
and sticks right around us. When I came home from work this morning, my husband was sitting out in the sun in a lawn chair
with Sarah in his lap. I really think she is going to be just fine. She is a very special little dog and we are beginning
to see a very sweet personality in her.
(Dictated by Sarah, emailed
from foster mom, Marci) I am about 3-5 years old. I came to my foster home with my 3 puppies, “Lola”
who is also seeking a forever home, “Miley” who has found a wonderful family, and “Pip” my one
son who has found his forever home here at my foster families house. I am still a bit scared of people, I like to run
and hide if you come at me too fast, but can be touched and loved on once you get close to me. I was scheduled to be
spayed but one morning while out changing irrigation pipe with my foster mom I found a badger hole and that darn badger dang
near took my head off (and I’m not exaggerating) I am recovering nicely and the everyday doctoring attention is
teaching me to trust. I walk nicely on a leash now that my foster mom found a special harness that doesn’t bother
my neck injury. I would like a home with other dogs as my people skills continue to grow. I will be spayed once
I fully recover from my injury which shouldn’t be too long now. My foster mom says I have the kindest eyes, ones
of deep thought and stories.

My name is Laura Nilles and I was lucky enough to get a little Aussie (# 9) from the Lind seizure.
Her name is Dazee and she is the little tri-color pictured with our 5 year old Aussie Talley. Talley is 30 lbs and Dazee is
13 lbs. Dazee was brought home by a wonderful couple that was present at the rescue Colette and
Lyle Bakken from Ritzville. We went and picked her up on the 30th of August. The Bakkens had already gotten her all
plumped up for us so we never saw her in the awful state
that she arrived in. We did however see alot of the other stress that this poor
baby had endured. She was too afraid to have eye contact with us the first couple of days but quickly got over that.
She has adapted really well to our three children but still is very skittish around my husband and other men. We love to
see her wag her little rump but it took awhile before that would occur with everyone. She follow me everywhere and loves her
big sis Talley. They get along like they have always been together, We still have a ways to go but every day
we see a new little improvement in her progress. Her biggest thing we look to overcome
has been her fear of people. It's hard to see a precious little dog like this so afraid to be touched by a human.
Now though we rub her belly and hold her all the time. She has been the most wonderful addition to our household. We love
her dearly!!
Please let me know of others if you can, I'ts wonderful to hear others stories.

Tessa
LinDuh is now known as Tessa and was adopted by a lovely couple in Ellensburg. Tessa's new Mom has a home
office so she's always home. Tessa now has 2 canine pals and all get along beautifully! Surprisingly, because she was still
shy with strangers, she immediately warmed up to new Mom, Mary. Tessa is such a sweet girl and very smart and is now being
spoiled rotten which she well deserves. I had grown so attached to this girl I had considered not adopting her out but
her new Mom & Dad were so absolutely in love with her already I changed my mind. Of course I cried when she left but she
was sitting in the front seat of the van. She spent the first evening in her new home sitting on her new Dad's lap! They love
her to pieces! A real 'Happy Ending' to a very sad start.
Past Update
(Email from Jody, LinDuh's foster mom) Unless the perfect person comes along LinDuh will be here forever.
She is such a great dog. Very loving, totally non-aggressive to dogs, cats, kids, etc. A little shy around strangers still
but getting better. She is definitely a 'velcro dog'; she is on my heels at all times. I really love this middle-aged, lop
eared, bowlegged, one eyed girl! She even gives my cat face washes, gets along with the Pit Bull next door when he manages
to clear the fence and come over here! (He is neutered & has had obedience training and thinks LinDuh is his girlfriend.)

Poquita has gone to a couple who love her dearly!
|

|
(Notes from Janet)
This is Bandit (fka Ben) - he's with his Mom, Addy, on the site (she's available for adoption). Thinking
you could put him on the "happy endings" portion of the website. He's living with a family that has a poodle (Jefferson)
and 2 kids for him to play with! :)

Rose
(was Penny)
Penny, now known as Rose, was adopted to her forever home and is doing well. She is a very quiet mini
aussie, but is greatly loved and appreciated by her new family.
Update October 28th
(From Foster Mom) Penny has finally made a decision; she is a house dog! This
a.m. she ventured out of the crate and did some exploring for the first time. She's looked around before but never when I
was in the room. She covered the entire house today. I finally put her out because I thought she might need to go potty. She
went out readily but wanted back in right away. She always heads straight for the crate and spends most of the day in it,
only leaves it when I make her go out. I put both dogs out 3-4 times a day to go potty. So far Penny has not gone in the house
but I don't call her housebroken. She simply doesn't want to go in the crate. I took some good shots of her in the house and
will send them as soon as the camera gets installed, okay? She really is a great little girl and I fear I'm getting really
attached again! I don't think it's going to be much longer before she really trusts me. When that happens I will start taking
her around people. She's just too uncomfortable at this point. Exposing her to too many people might just set her back. She
still has reservations about me but she will look at me now and that's a biggie! If she's outside and around the corner if
I whistle she will come and peek to see me but still won't come to me. Yesterday in the early morning I had put both dogs
outside to potty and when I went to open the door for them to come inside Penny was jumping and excited to get inside. As
I said, she's decided she is an inside dog now!!!!!
(Notes from Julia) And my favorite--Red, number 110. She walks fine on a leash, has even went
to town and walked around town on a leash. She's still very timid, but such a gentle soul. Her eyes are haunted
by a story we'll never know ... Red breaks my heart every day. She needs a foster/adopter that is very special
and absolutely loving & patient. She actually has her own dog bed in her run (not in the photo) and she loves to
curl up in it.

(Update from Julia -- she really would like Red to find a very special home of her own)
She's a doll deluxe--easy to walk on a leash, gets along great with other dogs & she's just so beauuuutiful! :)

Minnie & Millie
**Please note -- these girls do not have to be adopted together. They are sharing
space on this page because the pictures are together**

The 2 females we have continue to be very shy, and run off when they see my husband.
The Red Merle, Millie, will nearly come up to me voluntarily within 3 feet but I have to trap her to handle her.
she doesn't seem to want to be with the other dogs too much she will voluntarily put herself in a separate fenced area.
I think it is because she is older and seems to have some old injury. she favors her right front paw and I frequently
see her limping but she seems to get around OK.
The Grey Merle, we call her Minnie now is very playful she loves to play with our dogs
and prefers to sleep on our front porch. She is the hardest to catch and the only way I can handle her is by trapping
her.
They both lay in my arms once I have picked them up, do not try to struggle or bite/snap but
continue to shiver with fright.
One thing I've noticed is that all the Lind dogs have been "sore or tender" on the
right neck/shoulder area, they will flinch when I massage them. Have you noticed this?

Harley's adoption has made space for Denver to move into foster care with Heather to learn how to
be your next best friend!
Too late! Denver has found his forever home!
Denver Goes to the Groomer
Denver went to the groomer as well. True to his nature, he was not at all mean -- just terrified.
This poor little guy just really needs to be in a home environment where he can start learning to trust.
(Notes from Julia)
This is Denver. He is a yet-to-be-discovered gem, I believe. He hangs out in the
dogloo with Bobbi, but when I've pulled him out to work on him, he has been the most gentle boy! He is terrified, of
course, but still gentle. Go figure. He has just recently decided it is ok to make direct eye contact with me
... it sounds like a little thing, but it feels huge to me.
I want him to go to a foster that can be with him all day, too ... if only there were that many
fosters for these special needs dogs. Denver is a quiet boy, gets along with other dogs (ie not aggressive), and will
be a really pretty boy once he's groomed. :)

|

|
Brady is now in foster care with Kris Wolfram near Beaverton, Oregon. He's joined Kris' five Mini Aussies to learn
just what it means to be a member of the family.
Click Here to Follow Brady's Journey
(Notes from Julia) Bobbi is so scared ... he spends a lot of time in the dogloo with his partner Denver,
but he is coming out a LOT more lately. We believe Bobbi has some vision impairment, and he really needs intensive
individualized socialization assistance--more than we can offer him at the shelter with so many other dogs here/not enough
people. If you know of anyone who would fit the bill & could handle doing a lot of work with a beautiful dog, please
let me know. Bobbi is gorgeous ... amazing eyes, expressions & I love his coloring/markings. He really gets
along well with my dogs when I bring them out. I soo wish this boy wasn't quite so wild--he is a knock-out and not the
least bit aggressive with us.

Phoenix
(FKA Cyrus)
Cyrus has been adopted by a wonderful family with a 13 year old female mini and his new name is "Phoenix".
He is already sleeping in the 15 year olds bedroom and soliciting pets from everyone in the family. They had him in to the
vet when he had a bit of an upset stomach from a food switch and the vet loved him and thought he was very well behaved.
Cyrus goes to the groomer
Julia's comments -- you wouldn't *believe* what a difference there is in Cyrus! His fur is so different
feeling and he just looks so good. Another thing--he LOVED being petted, once he gave himself over to it. Seriously,
he was a different dog this afternoon. I kind of have a crush on him, too!
October Update
We didn't get to spend a lot of time with Cyrus, but can say that he's not a frantic pacer. He will
eat the hotdogs that you throw to him, though he does have to sniff around quite a bit to find them. Cyrus has also
blown his coat, which was fuller in the initial Youtube video.
Cyrus is the blue merle boy in the front. That's Steve (black tri male in the background) (Notes from
Julia) Next up is sweet, terrified Cyrus. He really does have a gentle disposition, but he is so afraid; he shakes.
He does wiggle when we call him, but of course he doesn't come. I'd love to see him go to someone who could just pull
him up in their lap and hold him until he gets over his paralyzing fear. He has a deep, soulful air to him ... in my
vivid imagination, this boy is a tortured poet, needing love, but unable to allow himself to *be* loved. :) He appears
to have a little vision loss, but not much--Donna & I were working with him & she became suspicious and
tested his vision. Since he's only been at the shelter a couple days, Donna & I haven't had a chance to
leash him & test his response to walking with a human yet ... I'm going to guess he will walk with us, though; he actually
sort of follows us around the pen while we're out there!

Parker
(was Steve)
aka #20
Steve, now known as Parker, has a terminal heart condition. It was discovered that he has very enlarged
heart and a grade 5.5 heart murmer. His teeth are badly infected but they can't do a dental with anasthesia because
of his murmur. They are shocked he survived his neuter. He is in a foster home, goes to work at the shelter with
his foster mom every day, he is being given every thing he needs to be happy and comfortable for the next few months until
he is ready to go to sleep. This just breaks my heart...
Steve Goes to the Groomer
Both Steve and Cyrus did very well at the groomer!
October Update:
Steve is a pacer and wanted nothing more than to avoid human contact. This is not unlike how
Tilly (see happy endings) was before going to her forever home. Steve needs an experienced person who understands dog
behavior and how to build trust. He's a small guy -- at around 13" to 14".
Information from Julia
Initially, Steve was inside the building in a crate as he was very sick with one respiratory illness after
another, but is finally doing much, much better. Steve is very timid, but seems to like being petted once he is caught.
You can see in the photos he was trying to avoid contact. He needs more individual work. He gets along fine with
other dogs, though mainly because he just pretends they're not there, I think. He's just so nervous all the time...
I wish we could find a way to calm him and reduce his fear of everything. He *will* walk on a leash, but he's clearly
terrified the entire time he's out of the run. Poor boy. He has really put on weight and his body is looking good
now.

UPDATE: Shiloh now "Phoebe" is still with Shannon and I haven't chatted with her in a bit but
the last I heard she was taking food from her hand and generally making some improvements but getting a little bossy with
the resident dogs.
(Notes from Julia) Number 78 (Shiloh, F) is quite fearful of humans and hides in a corner or a dog house
whenever we're around. This girl needs lots of work and a patient, gentle handler. A model dog would be of great
benefit to her, too.You may remember her--she likes to hide in corners or in the dogloo, prick ears, short in stature, gorgeous
markings. She is a fear biter when being caught, but once she's being securely held, she does give up and relax a bit.
I'd *love* to see her get help from an experienced dog behaviorist ... every single one of the Lind dogs that have her particular
look are nippy/fear biters/anxious. If she is placed, it will need to be with someone who understands she is going to
take a lot of patience, time & education to be a "pet"

Willis is a very handsome red merle boy whose foster mom, Kay, says is very friendly. Willis
and Addy (see Girls below) are inseperable and they would like them go together.

Sonic
aka Don Juan or The Human
UPDATE: Don Juan now "Sonic" is getting more comfortable with his foster family but still engages
in lots of neurotic pacing/circling etc. behaviour and is not really comfortable with the resident border collies.
October Update
Here's another guy that really needs an experienced dog person to teach him that humans are a good thing.
It's really impossible for him to get the amount of time he needs with people in a shelter environment. These ladies
are amazing -- but they have a full kennel of dogs to care for.
Past Updates
(Notes from Julia) This little guy is an alien. Seriously, he has the most human look in his eyes--in
my mind, his name is "The Human", but other people call him Don Juan. His number is 26. I wish I could have caught
his humanity in the photo, but he is really terrified to be touched & he thought I was going to try to touch him ... so
he didn't want to stand still. This boy is very high strung, but wants SO badly to trust. He gets excited when
we bring dinner out and will bob & weave like he's going to play with us, but he's just too terrified to touch us or let
us touch him. When he's caught, he freezes like a statue and every muscle in his body turns to steel. That said,
I just recently got him to start taking treats from my hand, but he'll probably stop now because I had to catch him to take
him to the vet for a neuter yesterday ... I've broken our thin thread of trust. I bring my own aussies out to socialize
with the dogs during feedings and this boy just loves them ... he tries to play, even though he doesn't really know how yet.
I'd love to see him go into an experienced foster home that could do some intensive socialization work with him. He
really needs more individual work than he will get at the shelter.

UPDATE: The Adams County Pet Rescue Junior group has raised funds to send one of the Lind
Aussies to Dawna Andrews of Northwest Canine Counseling for assessment & training and Charlie was the lucky winner!
We adopted the tricolor Male "Charlie" but he has been getting aggressive with our 4 year old , Charlie
is growling & nipping at him. Charlie is otherwise a nice dog just not for a youngster. Charlie follows me
around, takes treats, belly rubs etc. will kind of come when called but he is very sociable so he doesn't go far off
but he definitely needs a fenced yard. I believe he will make a good pet for a family with older kids or no kids.
He is a lover & gives lots of kisses.

|
(Notes from Julia) He seems to be the least timid of the new dogs & will make eye contact & even
sort of follow us around the run while we're in there. One prick ear, nice coat.

(From current foster home) Here is one more dog to add to your adoptable site. If the picture doesn't
come through please contact Donna to get it. We call this little girl Pennie. She is approx. one year old and
weighs about 12 pounds. She is a really sweet little dog but still very afraid of people. She is perfectly contented
to run loose in my back yard. When we do catch her we can easily put a leash on her and while she does cower when petted
she no longer pants and shakes all over. She will be easy to house train. When we have had her in as long as we
took her out on a regular basis we didn't have any accidents. She does like to chew on things (tree branches, plastic
toys, etc.) She is quiet when she is in the house at night and we hated to kennel her but when we didn't she one of
the cords to the phone. Unfortunately, I won't be able to keep her more than another week or two. If she is not
adopted by then I will have to return her to Curtis Drive.

Addy is a lovely red tri female who is a bit shyer than her best friend, Willis, but is getting better
and better every day. They would like Addy and Willis to be adopted as a pair. (The puppy has already found his
forever home)
